Nothing’s final yet, but the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is bracing itself for a big move nonetheless.
“The SEC may build its own headquarters if the plan to move to Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig falls through,” reports Krista Angela M. Montealegre on InterAksyon.com. It’s been said that there are plans to house all agencies under the Department of Finance in a so-called financial cluster in BGC.
The report quoted SEC chairperson Teresita Herbosa, who said, “We’re waiting for the action of the President on the proposal to have some agencies transfer to the consular property at The Fort. Once that’s approved, we have some partial plans. That’s where we will build. If it’s not approved, we have to look for another site.”
The SEC, which had 412 employees as of September 2013, will need about 10,000 square meters of floor area. Its current building is located in Mandaluyong.
