Accompanied by police officers, Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña raided on Sun night a condominium unit and a house in Maria Luisa Subdivision in search for the gunman involved in a shooting incident in F. Sotto Street Cebu City early Sun morning, Mar 19.
The road rage suspect has been identified as “a scion of a prominent Chinese Cebuano family.”
The suspect DL “along with a female companion, was seen in a video fleeing the scene on board his Mercedes Benz after he repeatedly shot and wounded Ephraim Montalbo Nuñal, 33, a nurse working for University of Cebu Medical Center (UCMed) located at the North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City,” says Cebu Daily News.
The authorities failed to locate DL in his properties. His parents claimed that they didn’t know their son’s whereabouts.
The raids were conducted without a warrant but on orders of mayor Osmeňa.
On a Facebook post, mayor Osmeňa said that he ordered SWAT to execute the raid on DL’s house after a judge refused to issue him a warrant of arrest.
“I accept all legal responsibility,” he wrote.
In another post, he added that they were expanding the search to include the suspect’s female companion.
Mayor Osmeňa offered a PHP100,000 reward for “solid additional corroborating information” that can help in the arrest of the suspect.
