“Abigail Pendulas—the wife of Manuel Amalilio, the alleged brains behind the Aman Futures scam—was arrested in Pampanga on Friday, May 2,” reports ANC.
According to the report, “police noted that Pendulas’ face had literally changed.” Pendulas, as it turned out, “had undergone plastic surgery to avoid being recognized by scam victims and authorities.”
The report went on to explain that “the Aman Futures scam was a pyramid scheme that defrauded thousands of investors in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.” The Aman Futures Group duped people by promising a 30 to 40% profit on their investments.
Amalilio, the alleged brains behind the operation, is a Malaysian national. He is currently detained in Malaysia because he was caught with a fake Philippine passport in January 2013. He is serving a two-year jail term.
Meanwhile, Pendulas will face syndicated estafa charges.
