Ping Lacson stays.
“The Supreme Court has denied a petition against an order of President Benigno Aquino III specifying the functions of the Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery, the post assigned to former senator Lacson,” reports Likha Cuevas-Miel on InterAksyon.
The report explained that “petitioner Louis Biraogo argued that Lacson’s appointment violates Republic Act 10121, which created the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) that is in-charge of post-disaster rehabilitation programs of the government.”
Biraogo was basically saying that “with NDRRMC’s existence, there is no need for the new office created for Lacson.”
Well, the SC didn’t agree with him.
