Sorry, folks.
“Petitioners challenging the recent Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) fare increase failed to secure a temporary restraining order (TRO) or status quo ante order (SQAO) from the Supreme Court (SC) as the High Court sat in en banc session after the Christmas break,” reports Ina Reformina on ABS-CBNnews.com.
For now, as the report indicated, the SC asked respondents, led by Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya, “to file their comment on the four separate petitions as well as the pleas for temporary relief within a period of 10 days.”
Meanwhile, the petitions of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), former Iloilo Representative Augusto Syjuco Jr., Bayan Muna Party List, and United Filipino Consumers and Commuters Inc. have been consolidated.
The report noted: “In their petitions, petitioners urged the high court to strike down the fare hike for being ‘unjustified and arbitrary,’ and for government’s failure to issue due notice and hearing prior to its implementation last January 4.”
