We wonder if other detained people can also go home on their birthdays.
Former president and current Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has gotten the approval of the Supreme Court (SC) on her appeal for a birthday furlough next month.
“SC spokesman Theodore Te said the SC allowed Arroyo to celebrate her 69th birthday with her family at their home in La Vista Subdivision, Quezon City from April 4 to 6. Arroyo is celebrating her birthday on April 5,” reports Edu Punay in The Philippine Star.
The report noted: “Arroyo had earlier asked the SC to allow her to leave the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) for five days. But the SC reduced the number of days.”
In case you forgot, the former President continues to be detained at the VMMC on plunder charges in connection with the alleged PHP366-million Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office fund anomaly.
