This workplace disagreement had an unexpected bloody ending.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) disclosed in a statement yesterday that a Saudi Arabia-based Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was shot dead after he allegedly killed two co-workers and injured others.
The agency withheld the identity of the OFW because his family has yet to be informed of his death.
According to the statement, the crime occurred on Farasan Islands, a group of islands in the Red Sea. The islands are located 40 kilometers offshore from the city of Jizan.
Based on reports received by Consul General Edgar Badajos, who is assigned at the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah, the OFW allegedly first stabbed to death a Pakistani colleague because of a heated argument.
He then allegedly killed his Saudi manager and wounded others when they tried to intervene. A security personnel working for the company arrived at the scene and shot the OFW, leading to his death.
A team from the Philippine Consulate has been dispatched to gather more information about what occurred and to repatriate the body of the OFW.
