Sara Duterte: I’m a rape victim, too…but dad’s words don’t offend me

After both the media and her friends sought her reaction regarding her father’s rape anecdote, Davao City mayoral candidate Sara Duterte, daughter of presidential bet Davao City Rodrigo Duterte, revealed that she was a rape victim, too.

However, as she said in an Instagram post, Sara “does not take offense” at the comments her father made about Australian missionary Jacqueline Hamill, who was raped and murdered during a hostake-taking incident at the Davao Penal Colony in 1989.

“Sara made the admission on Mon, Apr 18, when she was interviewed after the campaign rally of Team Duterte-Cayetano in Bacolod City. She said the rape took place a long time ago and she did not tell anyone about it, especially her parents,” reports Doris Borgonia on ABS-CBNnews.com.

Sara did not give details about the incident, and only said that “it’s immaterial and did not hinder her development as a person.”

Day 14. Finally said it. Good Morning.

The report noted: “Although she admitted that her father’s comments may have offended many people, Sara said it would neither define her father’s total character nor would it be reflective of his performance and desire to lead the country.”
