Sandiganbayan issues hold departure order vs. Junjun Binay

The Sandiganbayan 3rd Division issued hold departure orders (HDOs) against dismissed Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay and his co-accused in the cases involving the alleged anomalous construction of the Makati City Hall Parking Building II, which amounted to PHP2.2 billion.

“The Sandiganbayan 3rd Division’s Clerk of Court, Atty. Dennis Pulma, said that the court issued the HDOs last February 26 and was received on March 3 by the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID), which was ordered to place the younger Binay and his co-defendants in its hold departure list,” reports Jeffrey Damicog in Manila Bulletin.

Pulma told reporters, “Kung gusto nila mag-travel abroad (If they want to travel abroad), they must now seek permission from the court.”

The report noted: “The younger Binay’s co-accused in all or some of the his cases have been officials of Makati City, namely, city administrator Marjorie De Veyra, acting city administrator Eleno Mendoza Jr., Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) vice chairperson Gerardo San Gabriel, legal officer Pio Kenneth Dasal, budget officer Lorenza Amores, BAC Secretariat head Manolito Uyaco, BAC technical working group chairman Rodel Nayve, Central Planning Management Office (CPMO) chief Line dela Peña, CPMO civil engineer Connie Consulta, treasurer Nelia Barlis, and accountant Cecilio Lim III. Efren Canlas of Hilmarc Construction Corporation was the only private individual who was charged in the cases.”
