Guys, we hate to be buzzkills, but apparently, even in 2020, this still needs to be said: don’t believe everything you read on the internet.

Ramon Ang, the president of San Miguel Corporation (SMC), issued a statement today urging the public to stop spreading the false news that his son, Jomar Ang, is dead. The call comes after a local showbiz site reported that the younger Ang had passed away.

“I would like to appeal to the public to please help stop spreading false news about my son, Jomar,” he said. “He is alive and still in the hospital. Please do not pass on or share these rumors.”

Ramon’s statement comes after website Pep.ph reported today that Jomar was dead. The inaccurate article has been taken down, but a Google search still shows the title of the article in the results.

Jomar, 26, was rushed to St. Luke’s Medical Center yesterday where he is now in critical condition due to an unspecified ailment. Ramon asked the public to respect their privacy while asking for prayers for Jomar’s recovery.

The younger Ang is the chief financial officer of RSA Motors, the official dealer of BMW cars in the Philippines.
