We hope for his full recovery.
“Philippine basketball legend Samboy Lim is steadily improving and is now being take care of in his home after spending more than two months in a hospital, his family announced on Monday afternoon, January 19,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
In a Facebook post, his family wrote that Lim was taken home last Wednesday after doctors approved of the make-shift hospital room members of his family had arranged for him.
The report recalled: “Lim collapsed during a PBA Legends exhibition game last November 28, 2014 and was rushed to Medical City. He fell into a coma and was for a time confined to the intensive care unit.”
The family’s statement was posted on Samboy Lim’s facebook page. They said:
Good afternoon. This is a brief update on Samboy:
On Jan 14, we took Sam home. Doctors approved the hospital room that we set up for him, with all the medical equipment and supplies for Sam, round-the-clock nurse care, and daily PT program.
Sam is now out of coma, has opened his eyes, has a sleep-wake cycle, smiles at funny stories, cries when it seems he becomes aware of his condition, puckers his lips to gesture a kiss, and follows simple instructions to close eyes, to kiss, to move fingers, to stick out tongue.
Sam’s recovery has surprised his doctors, who told us that what we see in Sam now is entirely his and God’s. We are all happy to see any improvement. This may be a long journey but each step is a step forward and closer to his recovery.
Thank you again for your prayers and help to defray the medical bills of Sam. We paid a total of 2.8 Million pesos in Medical City. We continue to be deeply grateful for your love and help.
