A Quezon City Police District personnel was relieved from his duty yesterday and is currently facing administrative charges after a random drug test found him positive of using shabu or methamphetamines.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said that an officer named Staff Sgt. Arthur Santos II was among 70 police personnel who underwent the surprise screening test on May 28 where he tested positive. Santos went through a second drug test which also tested positive.
NCRPO Chief Major Gen. Debold Sinas ordered Santos’ relief and said that an investigation into the erring cop’s illegal drug use is underway.
Sinas, who was earlier embroiled in a public controversy over an alleged violation of quarantine rules, said that they will continue to conduct random tests within the police force to “identify unscrupulous personnel who are engaged in illegal drugs.”
Both the QCPD Station 4 and NCRPO could not be reached for further comments.
Santos has been transferred to the NCRPO Regional Personnel Holding and Administrative Service in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City where he will face administrative charges.
