What happens when law enforcers are the ones breaking the law?
On Fri, Jul 29, operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Special Operating Unit recovered four sachets said to contain shabu in the barracks that used to be occupied by members of the QCPD’s anti-illegal drug unit.
“Senior Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar, QCPD chief, said the suspected shabu sachets were found in an abandoned locker. They have been submitted to the Crime Laboratory for testing,” reports Romina Cabrera in The Philippine Star.
The report recalled: “Last week, all 35 police officers of the QCPD anti-drug unit, including its head, were removed from their posts after one of its team leaders, Senior Inspector Ramon Catillo, 47, was killed in a sting.”
In that particular sting, though, Catillo (he is also identified as “Castillo” in other news reports) was shot when he tried to escape after allegedly selling shabu to undercover officers.
Around 200 grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of PHP1 million, were recovered from him.
