Rumor: Manny Pangilinan wants to buy an NBA team

Business tycoon Manny Pangilinan is reportedly considering buying the Los Angeles Clippers.

The team may be up for sale following the publicized racist rants its owner, Donald Sterling.

“The National Basketball Association (NBA) has imposed a lifetime ban on Donald Sterling, the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, delivering an unexpectedly robust set of sanctions for racist comments that may also compel the real estate billionaire to sell his team,” reports The Guardian.

In any case, Pangilinan has tough competitors, as Magic Johnson, Oprah Winfrey, Floyd Mayweather Jr., David Geffen, Larry Ellison, Sean Combs, Oscar de la Hoya, Rick Caruso, Matt Damon, Rick Ross are reportedly also interested in buying the team.

The team is reportedly worth around US$575 million (P25.3 billion), according to SPIN.ph. Reports say, though, that Pangilinan is only after ‘a minor stake’ in the LA Clippers. Now we wonder what ‘minor’ means in terms of dollars.
