Roxas camp denies hatching ‘secret plan’ to destroy VP Binay

Apparently, the camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay suspect that the Liberal Party (LP) and some of its supporters have hatched a “secret plan” to derail his presidential candidacy.

They suspect that aside from the people from the camp of LP standard bearer Mar Roxas like Rep. Edgar Erice, the following people are also allegedly involved in the so-called anti-Binay plan: SR Metals Inc. owner Francis Gutierrez, Nickel Asia Corp. owner Salvador Zamora, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, and Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.

Though not LP members, it may be recalled that Cayetano and Trillanes, who are both running for vice president, were among the senators leading the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee hearings on various corruption allegations against Binay.

“Initially, Binay’s lawyer, Atty. Claro Certeza, said Gutierrez and Zamora should answer questions about their alleged meetings on their plan to destroy the chances of Binay in the presidential race,” reports ABS-CBN News.

Roxas’ camp, through LP spokesperson Rep. Barry Gutierrez, denied the Binay camp’s latest allegation. Rep. Gutierrez said, “It’s not true. VP Binay is merely reviving old allegations. We don’t need a ‘secret plan’ to destroy him. The whole world sees how he’s already doing an admirable job to discredit himself. One example is the debate, and how he lied and contradicted himself trying to answer questions about his properties.”

The report noted: “Rep. Gutierrez was referring to Binay’s statement during the first leg of the PiliPinas Debates wherein Binay claimed that he inherited some of his properties from his parents. Rep. Gutierrez said this contradicted Binay’s own claim in his television advertisement that he grew up poor such that his mother died because his family could not afford to buy her medicines.”
