Should’ve just kept your mouth shut, dude.
A man who was initially arrested for making a bomb joke now faces even more charges after he was allegedly found with illegal drugs.
The unlucky man identified as 46-year-old welder Luisito Monares made the joke while waiting to board a RORO (roll-on/roll-off) ship in Dumanga Port, Iloilo, radio station RMN reported. The incident happened at around 10:12 pm on Saturday, The Daily Guardian reported.
According to Panay News, he made the joke while a security guard was searching his bag. Searching people’s bags for bombs is a standard operating procedure in many establishments and modes of transportation around the Philippines. Still, Monares — for some reason — thought it would be funny to say that he had a bomb inside his.
PO2 Terrence Sabio of the Dumangas Municipal Police Station told RMN that Monares admitted to his joke but said that he didn’t know it was illegal to make one.
Yeah, dude, it is.
Under Presidential Decree No. 1727, those who joke about bombs could face imprisonment of not more than 5 years, a fine of not more than PHP40,000 (US$745.80), or both.
In The Daily Guardian‘s report, Security guard Evette Gay Magno said the other passengers panicked because of what Monares said.
His unfunny joke caused even more trouble when Monares was allegedly found with two sachets of suspected shabu (meth) after police frisked him in the police station after his arrest.
Not so funny anymore, huh?
