Rooftop swimming pool discovered in latest Bilibid raid

It’s the ninth raid conducted at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in recent weeks, but the contraband seems to be unlimited.

Two swimming pools and a hidden lounge were found during a raid on the maximum security compound of the NBP in a raid conducted on Tue, Dec 21.

“In fact, one of the swimming pools and the lounge – full of narra furniture – was found at the rooftop of a kubol that was designed like a resthouse,” reports The Philippine Star.

The report noted: “Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) personnel also confiscated expensive aquarium fish and hamsters; flat-screen television sets, refrigerators, chest freezers, DVD players, sound systems, and gambling equipment.”

BuCor director Rainier Cruz revealed that some BuCor employees file requests for the appliances, then rent or sell  them to inmates. This explains why some of the refrigerators, televisions, and freezers they seized in the raid bore stickers identifying them as BuCor equipment.
