Roderick Paulate on ‘ghost employees’ charge: It’s not true

Last week, the Office of the Ombudsman ordered the dismissal of Quezon City 2nd District councilor Roderick Paulate and 1st District Rep. Francisco Calalay Jr., as they were found guilty of the administrative offenses of falsification of official documents, serious dishonesty, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.

The Office of the Ombudsman indicated Calalay disbursed a total of PHP2,175,000 in wages while Paulate disbursed a total of PHP1,125,000 for “ghost employees.”

Now, Paulate has broken his silence on the decision of the Office of the Ombudsman. In an Instagram comment (see screengrab below), Paulate told a follower in Filipino that his case wasn’t a big issue. “It was just blown out of proportion by those who are behind these lies.”

He added, “Truth will prevail. God is just! He knows the truth.”

“The councilor, who is running his third and last term in May, decried those who have judged him without knowing what really happened,” reports Janvic Mateo in The Philippine Star.

The report noted: “Paulate also hinted at possible politics behind the reason, noting that the decision came out when the election season is heating up.”
