A showroom in Talisay City in the province of Negros Occidental was robbed by armed suspects yesterday night.
According to authorities, four bonnet-wearing persons were able to disarm and tie down two guards who were keeping watch inside the showroom, reported ABS-CBN News.
The robbers took the hard drive inside the showroom’s CCTV camera before they smashed open the vault using a mallet and an acetylene torch. They stole PHP44,000 (more than US$853) from the vault.
That’s a lot of effort just to steal a relatively small amount.
Authorities are still investigating the case. They’re also looking at the possibility that it was an inside job because the two guards allegedly gave contradicting accounts of the crime.
