After pulling off a particularly profitable robbery in Quezon City, a bunch of criminals decided to reward themselves.
Robbery gang leader Jonathan Cuya, 23, and his cohorts Jose Cuya Jr., 25; Michael Tolentino, 19; Martin Lalata, 27, and Rodolfo Lalata Jr., 23 headed to the 101 Diamond Beach Resort in Barangay Immaculate Concepcion, Olongapo City.
The criminals were so proud of their post-heist vacation that they posted photos on Facebook. (Sadly, the said page has since been taken down.) Since the gang leader already has a criminal record, it wasn’t long before somebody alerted the police about the Facebook photos.
“Using clues from the photos, policemen eventually cornered the gang at the resort on Wednesday, Mar 19,” reports Reinir Padua in The Philippine Star.
According to Quezon City Police District deputy director operations Senior Superintendent Procopio Lipana, they also seized from the group several firearms—a Colt .380 stolen from Ver, a Ruger P89 and a Pietro Berretta .9mm—as well as a hand grenade, a Mitsubishi Lancer, and the Hyundai van. Both vehicles are most likely to be stolen.
