Sometimes, the universe helps us nab the bad guys.
Earlier this week, Police Officer 1 Jojo Basquinas—a rookie cop assigned to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 3—went to a money transfer shop in QC to use the restroom. At around the same time, two robbers entered the shop and subsequently started threatening an employee.
As luck would have it, the said employee managed to run to the back of the shop and to the restroom. He told Basquinas what was happening. (Although we hope Basquinas had, uh, finished taking a leak by then.)
Naturally, Basquinas went out of the restroom and startled one of the robbers—a man who was later identified as Jeric Licudan, 36.
“Licudan shot at Basquinas, but his gun misfired. The policeman retaliated, hitting the suspect in the right arm and in the upper right part of his torso,” reports Reinir Padua in The Philippine Star.
Licudan’s cohort was able to escape. Police are now hunting him down.
