This story is more complicated than you think.
Criminal charges were filed yesterday against Karlvin Ernest Ang, 33, an executive of a real estate company who was caught on video pointing a gun at taxi driver Glen Remetio, 43, following a traffic altercation in Quezon City last week,” report Janvic Mateo and Reinir Padua in The Philippine Star.
The report explained that Ang, director and corporate secretary of Primex Development Corp., “was charged with physical injury, malicious mischief and grave threats before the Quezon City prosecutor’s office.”
Remetio, who appeared before Assistant City Prosecutor Flordeliza Ramos Lagasca when he filed the complaint, had identified Ang as the one who pointed a gun at him at the Santolan-EDSA flyover on July 25.
Remetio himself may also be facing charges, as he was shown also threatening Ang with a bladed weapon.
A video of the road rage incident, which was taken by a bus passenger, had gone viral.
However, according to an ANC report, “confusion ensued when the lawyers of a certain Bill Emerson Tan Ang claimed that it was their client that was driving the SUV involved in the traffic row. They said he acted in ‘self-defense.'”
According to the lawyers, Tan said he had flashed a “toy gun” at the taxi driver.
Needless to say, police have their work cut out for them.
