We love the nightlife for a lot of things, and things like this is definitely one of them.
At around 2am on July 31, Dasmariñas village barangay captain Martin Arenas allegedly ‘sucked punched’ 26-year-old Stefano Juban at The Palace Pool Club, one of the new party places at BGC in Taguig.
Both come from a wealthy family: Arenas is the grandson of socialite Baby Arensas, while Juban is the son of Jun Juban, a movie production executive.
According to Philippine Daily Inquirer, Juban was speaking to Arenas’ sister in a despidida party. “Arenas supposedly accused Juban of ‘abusing’ his sister, which was allegedly not the case, according to Juban.” His friends also filed affidavits to support Juban’s statement.
A portion of the police report filed by the victim reads: “Arenas ‘suddenly attacked…and punched his right cheek”. Several witnesses said the punch came from behind “stunning him [Juban] and causing him to fall to the floor — a solid knockout punch, so to speak,” continues the Inquirer report.
To be fair to The Palace Pool Club, its bouncers quickly moved to make sure the two parties were separated and that there were no further contact between the two.
“As an interesting sidelight, one of the witnesses said in her affidavit that Arenas’ wife was trying to apologize on his behalf, but no apology was forthcoming from the alleged assailant himself,” notes the report.
Juban is said to be bent on pursuing legal action, while Arenas has yet to air his side.
