Yet another Metro Manila city has decided to stick with its incumbent mayor.
Reelectionist Valenzuela City Mayor Rexlon “Rex” Gatchalian has been proclaimed anew as mayor by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
“Gatchalian of the Nationalist People’s Coalition garnered 190,856 votes or a 125,481 vote-lead over rival Rep. Magtanggol Gunigundo of the Liberal Party who got 65,375 votes,” reports Kristine Daguno-Bersamina on Philstar.com.
Lorie Natividad-Borja won as vice mayor with 162,131 votes against Mar Morelos, who got 79,885 votes.
The report further noted: “Valenzuela’s 1st District congressman, on the other hand, is Wes Gatchalian with 92,541 votes. He beat Ritchie Cuarra and Victor Reponia with 22,246 and 336 votes, respectively. The city’s 2nd District congressman is now Eric Martinez, who beat Adel Gunigundo.”
