After a jog this morning, former NBA star Ray Allen got a glimpse of how terrible Manila traffic can really be.

“Ventured into the unknown this morning. We ran through many different neighborhoods often times hoping we were heading in the right direction. The traffic was everywhere!” he posted on his Instagram page at around 11am.

The photo shows traffic congestion somewhere in the Makati Central Business District.

The two-time NBA champion flew in this morning from a sneaker convention in Hong Kong.

“My first time in the thrilla,” Allen said in the caption of his boarding pass before he left for Manila.

By the looks of the photo, and luckily for him, Allen was not in the congestion himself.

Manila is notorious for daily gridlock and poor public transportation systems. Regulators recently suspended Uber for violating franchise rules and forced them to pay PHP190 million (USD3.7 million) to lift the suspension and allow them to serve commuters who prefer app-based over public transportation.

There are no reports yet as to why the former Celtics shooting guard was in the country but we’ll stay glued to his Instagram posts to find out.
