It’s a good thing nobody was hurt.

“A yacht owned by Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez caught fire on the waters of Barangay Virginia, Culaba, Biliran on Wednesday, January 21,” reports Sharon Evite on ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted: “The ship was sailing from Tacloban to Manila when the incident occurred. It left Tacloban at 7am and sent a distress call at 12:40pm.”

All the yacht’s nine crew members were rescued from the burning ship and then brought to the Culaba Rural Health Unit. This information was also confirmed by a report published on the website, BiliranIsland.com.

The fire was reportedly caused by an exhaust pipe. Reports do not mention where Romualdez was when his yacht was on fire. So, we presume that he was not on it.

The existing reports also don’t say if the yacht was totally incinerated or if it was saved somehow.
