Deciding by Wednesday may be too soon.

This is what Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo regarding being Mar Roxas’ running mate in 2016.

She said, “Nasa proseso pa rin [ako] ng pag-discern. Sana mabigyan ako ng maraming oras kasi ‘yung Wednesday sobrang lapit na.”

(I’m still in the process of discerning. I hope I’d be given more time to decide since Wednesday’s too soon.)

Robredo confirmed that President Benigno Aquino III and Roxas met with her family last week.

She revealed she’s had sleepless nights working on the decision but added that she would not regret turning down the offer.

“Wala akong panghihinayang. ‘Di ako maka-relate kasi wala akong political ambition,” Robredo said.

(I won’t regret it. I don’t have political ambitions.)

She also clarified that while she is seriously considering the offer, the apprehensions of her daughters must be addressed.

The congresswoman reiterated she could not turn her back on her daughters, who earlier expressed disapproval of Robredo’s possible candidacy as vice president.

“Sana naiintindihan [nila] ako, nanay ako ‘di pwede talikuran basta mga anak ko,” Robredo said.

(I hope they’ll understand me. I’m a mother, I can’t turn my back on my children.)

Robredo also pointed out other factors affecting her decision, such as not having enough resources and earning low ratings in surveys.

However, Robredo acknowledged the need to settle her decision by next week.

“Palagay ko ‘di rin ako magiging fair sa LP ‘pag masyadong pinatagal [‘yung decision],” Robredo said.

(I think it won’t be fair with LP if I hold my decision longer.)

Robredo said she may not even make it to the Liberal Party event on Wednesday, as she has a prior commitment outside the capital.

Former Quezon Rep. Erin Tañada earlier said the Liberal Party (LP) will announce its slate at its convention on Wednesday, September 30.
