They treat it like it’s a family business.
“On Monday, October 12, Makati Rep. Abigail Binay said that she wants her husband to continue with her projects as she reaches her three-year limit in Congress,” reports Patricia Lourdes Viray on Philstar.com.
In an ambush interview, Binay had told reporters: “Kasi gusto ko ho yung mga proyekto ko maituloy niya. Problema ‘pag iba na ‘yung nakaupong congressman iibahin na yung napagpatuloy namin na proyekto (I want someone who will continue the projects that I started. The problem if someone else takes over, then they’ll have different projects).”
Thus Rep. Binay’s husband, Luis Campos, will run for congressman of the 2nd district of Makati City under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA). Binay pointed out that Campos has a master’s degree in business administration.
“Businessman po siya. Hindi naman siya pinulot lang somewhere (He’s a businessman. He didn’t just pop out of nowhere),” Binay said.
In any case, Rep. Binay is rumored to be running for mayor of Makati in case her brother, Junjun, will not be allowerd to run for reelection due to pending cases against him.
