Makati 2nd District Rep. Abigail Binay on Wed, Aug 26, dared members of the Senate Blue Ribbon committee to invite her to its next inquiry to defend herself and her family from various allegations of corruption.
The latest allegation being hurled against the lady representative involves the alleged misuse of her pork barrel funds.
Binay maintained she is ready to defend herself before the Blue Ribbon committee anytime.
“Imbitahin niyo ko para rin naman makasagot kami at mapaglaban naman namin yung mga kasinungalingan na sinasabi niyo sa amin (Invite me to the Senate so I can respond to the allegations you’ve made against us). Name the day, I’ll be there,” Binay said in a dzMM interview.
Binay also dared Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to produce the 15 checks Binay allegedly issued to a former Makati City official named Ryan Barcelo.
According to Binay, it was the Makati City treasurer who issued the checks and not her.
“It is the city treasurer that is issuing the check to Ryan Barcelo. Kaya nga ang sabi ko sa kanila, inilabas niyo ‘yung tseke na sinasabi niyo, tignan natin kung ako ‘yung signatory ng tseke na ‘yan (That’s why I told them to bring out those checks that they’ve been talking about so we can see if I am really the signatory of those checks),” she said.
Binay also lashed back at Trillanes, criticizing the senator’s multimillion expenses for consultancy services.
“Kung sana man lang ginagamit po ni Senator Trillanes ‘yung 55 consultant niya eh tama ‘yung intelligence na nakukuha niya (If he only used the services of his 55 consultants then he probably would have gotten the correct intelligence reports),” Binay said.
She added: “‘Yun naman ho ang problema kasi lagi siyang naglalabas ng isyu o pasabog niya na hilaw (That’s the problem with him he’s always making these half-baked claims). He is the boy who cried wolf. At the end wala namang maniniwala sa kanya (In the end nobody will believe him).” (with a report from Demerie Dangla, dzmm.com.ph)
