Truth be told, it’s still somewhat confusing.

“Bowing to a clamor from airline companies and travelers, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is allowing regular taxis to pick up passengers at two of the four terminals of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) starting April 20,” reports Jeannette I. Andrade in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The report noted: “MIAA general manager Jose Angel Honrado said “unaccredited” taxis will again be allowed at Terminals 2 and 3, but only during peak hours.”

Here are the following schedules:

At Terminal 2, they can enter from 2pm to 6pm and from 8pm to 10pm.

At Terminal 3, there will be four window periods: 9am to 11am; 1pm to 4pm; 6pm to 8pm; and 10pm to 1am.

The report recalled that “for years, MIAA allowed regular cabs to pick up riders at NAIA only if they had also brought passengers when they arrived there.” Thus, “empty” or unhired cabs were barred from entering the Naia complex.

There are currently 1,677 accredited taxis at NAIA. But, as the Honrado indicated, “the road congestion in Metro Manila often delays their return trip to the airport, hence the need for more readily-available vehicles to cope with the high passenger traffic.”
