The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has intervened to solve the water problems of the Manila Police District (MPD).
Besides shelling out an initial PHP2 million to help pay the MPD’s outstanding water bills, NCRPO said the national headquarters will release funds this week to fully settle the MPD’s unpaid water bills. MPD owes Maynilad Water Services Inc some PHP8 million. NCRPO Chief Director Leonardo Espina said in an Inquirer News report that the MDP’s water debts date as far back as 1999 and that the amount ballooned to PHP8 million because of interest.
He clarified that the police department was able to settle its more recent water bills. Additionally, Espina said the PNP has approved the budget for the rehabilitation of the MPD’s water system.
