How much are you willing to bet that this sneaky criminal will find a way to escape for the fourth time?
“Cho Seongdae, 49, Korean fugitive who has escaped three times was recaptured by joint personnel of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) and Bureau of Immigration (BI) over the weekend,” reports Evelyn Macairan in The Philippine Star.
According to National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) special task force chief Peter Chan Lugay, the Korean was turned over to them upon orders of Justice Secretary Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa.
Caguioa has likewise ordered the NBI to investigate how Cho managed to escape thrice.
Below are the details of the Korean national’s escapes (as detailed in a report by Jaime Laude in The Philippine Star):
Escape No. 1
While in hiding in the Philippines, Cho was arrested on Sep 11, 2012. After some time, he claimed he couldn’t breathe properly, so he was taken to a private hospital. He subsequently escaped. After two weeks, he was recaptured in Parañaque City brought to the BI detention facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
Escape No. 2
On Sep 29, 2015, Cho escaped from the BI detention facility. He had allegedly bribed his guards PHP1 million. He was recaptured in Angeles City, Pampanga on Oct 12.
Escape No. 3
Following Cho’s recapture earlier in Oct 2015, the BI coordinated with ISAFP officials to have him detained at its facility, purported to be highly secure. Cho’s escape was discovered on the morning of Oct 21. Sources claimed that one of the BI guards, when frisked by ISAFP agents, yielded PHP100,000 cash.”
Do the criminal math: 3 escapes = money definitely changed hands.
