Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte dabbing in one political ad? It happened, people.
The ad was launched yesterday and was shared on Marcos’ official Facebook account.
Marcos and Duterte both spoke Visayan in the 30-second ad, which sees them hanging out at a gas station. The video’s key message is that politicians should set aside their bickering and serve the public first. It also says that Marcos, who is running for senator this year, is the solution to all of our problems.
They even have a hashtag for it: #ImeeSolusyon. That’s a play on the Tagalog sentence “May solusyon“ (“There is a solution.”)
The video is campy and cringe-worthy, especially the part where Marcos dabs left and right while saying “There should be immediate action and solution!”
But don’t take our word for it. Watch the video below. You can see Marcos dab like a teenager at 0:08. It’s been dubbed in Tagalog for non-Visayans.
The video has gone viral and has been shared almost 10,600 times since it was posted.
Because the video brings together two very polarizing politicians, the reaction online has been mixed. Some people hated it, such as blogger Tonyo Cruz, who called both women “spawns of dictators.”

Marcos’ father is former president Ferdinand Marcos, whose reign was remembered for its numerous human rights violations and corruption.
Duterte meanwhile is the eldest child of President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently being investigated by the International Criminal Court due to his bloody drug war.
Duterte’s appearance on the video isn’t really surprising, given that her father has always been vocal about his admiration for the Marcoses.

Netizens commenting on Marcos’ Facebook account are more appreciative of the video. Azrael Lanz wrote that he will vote for Marcos and Duterte in the government’s “highest position (sic).”
While Marcos is running for a national position, Duterte is seeking re-election as mayor of Davao City.
Shena Edu wrote: “We Ilocanos are so proud of Madam Imee. I hope you win so that the entire Philippines can see what good leaders the Marcoses are.”
While many Filipinos are critical of the Marcoses, they still have their fair share of fans from their home province of Ilocos.
Based on a survey released by Pulse Asia early this month, Marcos has a chance of winning this year’s elections. It’s a possibility that will spook her critics, many of whom slammed her when she said in August that people should just “move on” from the memories of martial law.
