Will they forgive him?
“Comedian-writer Ramon Bautista has apologized after joking that Davao City has plenty of sexy-but-ugly women, using the local term ‘hipon’ to describe them,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
The incident happened last Saturday, August 16, during the annual Kadayawan Festival.
Bautista had reportedly joke, “Ang daming hipon dito sa Davao, alright, ‘hipon, hipon.’ … When I say ‘hi,’ you say ‘pon.'”
According to the report, former Davao mayor Sara Duterte and vice mayor Paolo Duterte were present at the event and were offended by Bautista’s joke.
The report said that Sara Duterte has encouraged the City Council to declare Bautista persona non grata.
Mewanhile, Paolo Duterte, talked to Bautista backstage and him to issue a public apology right then and there.
Thus, Bautista returned on stage to say sorry.
