The country’s weather bureau revealed that a tropical cyclone is expected to enter the country this weekend and affect “extreme northern Luzon.”

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration senior weather forecaster Rene Paciente told The Philippine Star that the weather disturbance “could intensify into a storm before it enters the Philippine area of responsibility on Sat night (Sep 24) or Sun morning (Sep 25).”

The cyclone will be named “Helen” once it enters the country.

“Paciente could not immediately say if the approaching cyclone will enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat.”
