Rain cripples Metro Manila

Heavy rains have turned Metro Manila into one big parking lot, with vehicles getting trapped on the road for at least an hour.

The rain, which forced some schools and universities to suspend afternoon classes, also left thousands of commuters stranded at Metro Rail Transit stations along EDSA.

Meanwhile, according to a Radio DZMM report, flooding has left close to 2,000 students of the University of Santo Tomas stranded on campus.

Earlier this week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration officially declared the start of the rainy season, which means “southwesterly to westerly windflow, high humidity, presence of rain clouds and the daily occurrence of rainshowers and thunderstorms.”
