Quezon City police thwart robbery in Project 8

Quezon City police and members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested two members of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik gang and thwarted an attempted robbery in Project 8 Thursday night.

According to Chief Superintendent Richard Albano, Quezon City Police District director, a team from Police Station 3 and a team fom CIDG held a stake out in front of an establishment on Shorthorn Road that “A-1 information” indicated was being targeted by the gang.

“Both teams prepositioned themselves at the pinpointed place and in no time, two unidentified male persons were spotted with protruding small arms tucked to their waists, waiting aimlessly,” the police report said.

Police confronted the two men, one of whom tried to shoot his way out. The gun jammed, however, and police were able to effect an arrest. They recovered two .38 cal revolvers and a hand grenade.

Police also found “SSS” tattoos identifying the suspects as members of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik gang.

The two suspects, identified as Allan Panao and John Paul Tatlong Hari alias “Pilay”, will be charged with Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunitions and Illegal Possession of Highly Explosive Device/Handgrenade, QCPD said.
