In a tweet posted yesterday, the official account of the Quezon City Public Affairs & Information Services Office (PAISO) got into a heated online exchange with a commenter.

It all started with a tweet posted by PAISO in January that shared a photo of the Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista in an event with Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, the daughter of dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

Twitter user @SPAMelaHam replied to the tweet Sunday, commenting on the mayor’s participation in the event.

PAISO explained the purpose of the event in a tweet, still calm.

That is until another user @skullohmania joined the thread and criticized the mayor as well. “Good thing he has time for that, right? Hopefully, he has time to install lights along Commonwealth Avenue,” the tweet said in Filipino.

To which the QC PIO account replied: “If you only you used your skull to do some research. DPWH is in charge of Commonwealth, not LGU,” explaining that the avenue is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works and Highways and not the local government.

And let’s just say people did not take the advice well. @SPAMelaHam called QC PIO’s Twitter admin rude and said: “If you can’t take criticism, quit your job.”

Other netizens joined the thread and criticized the way the Quezon City’s account handled the situation.

“If you feel like that makes you witty, RIP public service. Decency just isn’t in fashion anymore, huh? The fight is now eye for an eye. Takes after their leader,” user @ManangJoyce said.

Others had similar thoughts.
