Quezon City will build three multi-level evacuation centers in flood-prone areas of the sprawling city.
The evacuation centers will be built in elevated areas of barangays Silangan, Tatalon, and Sto. Domingo, QC Department of Public Order and Security chief Elmo San Diego said in an ABS-CBN News report.
The centers will accomodate up to 600 informal settlers and will have a basketball court on the rooftop, he said. Construction will be paid for with a P50-billion allocation from the Department of Budget and Management’s Informal Settlers Funds, the report said.
QC has also bought rescue boats and other rescue equipment as well as rain gauges and water-level monitoring stations in anticipation of the rainy season.
