This will make you drop your favorite tamarind snack faster than you can say “garapata.”
Garapata is the Filipino word for tick,
Kaye Ann of Quezon City shared a photo of two huge ticks (alive, mind you!) found inside the bottle of a famous brand of tamarind snack on Tue morning, Oct 11.
She told Coconuts Manila that she purchased the snack at a convenience strore along Maginhawa Street yesterday. She was halfway through her snack when she noticed the ticks inside the jar.
She uploaded a video where she can be heard screaming upon discovering the surprise. As of 1pm on Tue, Oct 11, the video has been viewed over 2,300 times.
In the comments section of the post, she said she was eating in a dimly-lit spot, and she didn’t immediately notice the ticks.
“I sealed it again to test how long would they stay alive inside the jar,” Kaye Ann told us. As of writing, she said that it’s been two hours and both ticks are still alive and kicking.
Update: The photos have already been removed from Kay Ann’s Facebook account as of Tue evening, Oct 11.
Kaye Anne and Coconuts Manila are trying to reach out the manufacturers of the tamarind snack to get their statement about the incident.
