QC shanties demolished, residents insist land was given to them during Marcos era

Despite being relocated, the displaced resident aren’t happy about this.

“The Quezon City government on Wednesday, November 5, demolished shanties in Barangay South Triangle, which served as the homes of about 100 families,” reports Zhander Cayabyab on ABS-CBNnews.com.

According to Gerry Colorado of the Quezon City Community Development and Resettlement Department, “the families living in the informal settlement along Mother Ignacia Avenue were already given homes in Pandi, Bulacan.”

The report noted: “There was no significant tension during the demolition, but residents insist that the land’s ownership was awarded to them during the Marcos era.”

The houses had to be demolished due to a road widening project.
