QC sets aside over PHP66 million to buy goods for poor families

It’s better to give than to receive, they say.

“The Quezon City council has approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Herbert Bautista to enter into an agreement to purchase goods amounting to PHP66,468,750, which will be distributed to impoverished families in the city this Christmas [season],” reports Janvic Mateo on Philstar.com.

Approved on Friday, Dec 20, the resolution indicates that the money for the gift-giving will be taken from the city’s coffers. However, the report also said that “the office of the city mayor has yet to release a schedule for the gift-giving activity, as well as the list of beneficiaries and the contents of the packages that will be distributed to residents.”
