QC resto-bar supervisor robbed, shot to death

This is why we’re now afraid when we see motorcycles approaching.

“Joman Porras, 30, the supervisor Gerardo’s Bar and Restaurant— which is located on Panay Avenue, Quezon City—was shot by robbers at around 2:50am on Tuesday, Jan 14,” reports Julie M. Aurelio in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Porras had been on his way home when the incident happened. He and his co-worker Jean Mata had been walking along Panay Avenue. When they reached the corner of Sgt. Esguerra Street, three men on two motorcycles stopped abruptly near them and announced the robbery.

According to the report, the robbers got Mata’s backpack which contained PHP5,000 in cash, a cellphone and several identification cards, and work documents. They then turned to Porras. One of them held a gun to his side. Then, the gun suddenly went off. The robbers then fled toward EDSA on their motorcycles.

Porras was rushed to Capitol Medical Center, where he died at 4:37am that same day.
