QC Mayor Herbert Bautista hits cops for lack of 24-hour checkpoints

Er, maybe there aren’t enough cops and there are too many criminals?

“Furious over the recent shooting spree in Fairview that killed five individuals in one day, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista expressed frustration over the lapses in the security measures of the local police,” reports Chito A. Chavez in Manila Bulletin.

According to Bautista, “the incident could have been prevented if the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) only conducted round-the-clock checkpoints in strategic areas.”

Apparently, the checkpoint set-up is called “Oplan Bakal.”

Bautista was quoted as saying, “Palagay ko hindi na naman sila (police) nag-o-Oplan Bakal. Hindi na naman active ang kanilang 24-hour checkpoint. Importante ang 24-hour checkpoint para naman kampante ang mga tao (I think the police are not doing Oplan Bakal. Their 24-hour checkpoint is not active anymore. It is important to 24-hour checkpoints to make the public feel at ease).”
