QC Mayor Herbert Bautista approves collection of garbage fee

The city can afford to give PHP66 million for charity, but it can’t afford garbage collection?

“A day after Christmas, Mayor Herbert Bautista signed into law an ordinance requiring all homeowners to fork out an annual fee of PHP100 to PHP500 for trash collection,” reports Jeannette I. Andrade in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

According to the report, “the fee is due every January, along with the homeowner’s real property tax.” The ordinance will be implemented after it’s published in a newspaper of general circulation and is posted in conspicuous places inside the city hall compound and all 142 barangays. Its corresponding rules and regulations will also have to be finalized by the offices of the city mayor, treasurer and assessor, and the city environmental protection and waste management department.
