At around 11pm on wed, Jan 27, a 56-year-old civil engineer named Ronald Gonzales died in the house of his friend, 23-year-old Mercy Corvera after the latter confronted him for not replying to her text messages.
“Corvera told police that she had been friends with Gonzales for almost three years. Investigation disclosed that an angry Corvera greeted Gonzales when he came to visit her at her house in Barangay E. Rodriguez, Cubao,” reports Vanne Elaine P. Terrazola in Tempo.
Police explained that “Corvera was mad at Gonzales for not replying to her text messages about a certain errand.” However, Gonzales also got furious and they had a heated argument. Then, Gonzales suddenly gasped for breath and slumped on the floor.
Corvera called for help and neighbors came, with one calling an ambulance. Gonzales was taken to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police say it was likely that Gonzales had high blood pressure and died from a heart attack.
