QC gov’t wants to turn Sgt. Esguerra Avenue into ‘Boulevard of Stars’

If you’re wondering why there’s a lot of road work being done on Sgt. Esguerra Avenue in Barangay South Triangle, Quezon City this may be the answer.

“The Quezon City government is spending PHP100 million to live up to its moniker ‘The City of Stars’ and eventually to become the ‘Film Capital of the Philippines,'” reports Jodee A. Agoncillo in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The report said that during the press briefing for the upcoming Quezon City International Film Festival, Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte revealed that plans were, indeed, underway to transform Sgt. Esguerra Avenue into a grand “Boulevard of Stars.”

“This is going to be the big thing in 2015. It will be a public-private partnership,” Belmonte said.

The report added that “a ‘Walk of Fame’ resembling the popular Hollywood attraction is also being considered.”

Moreoever, the report indicated that “a technical group has already presented the project plan to GMA and ABS-CBN, two giant networks whose main studios are located in the city.”
