Members of the Quezon City Police arrested seven men after they held up passengers on a Nicholas Albert Transport bus Monday night.
At a press conference on Tuesday, the QCPD said Gerry Lopez, Arsenio Dapat, Nelson Aldia, Raymond Pardo, Bernabe Arseo, Randy Mata, and Jeffrey Almonte were caught at a police checkpoint after the bus driver reported the robbery.
Police Superintendent Pedro Sanchez, QCPD Station 2 chief, said the suspects got on at Quezon Avenue before declaring a robbery. They took an iPhone, a digital camera, and four watches from bus passengers, DZMM reports.
The bus driver and his conductor managed to alert the police, however, prompting them to put up a checkpoint to intercept the bus.
Police recovered balisongs and the stolen items from the robbers.
The QCPD gave the driver and his conductor a plaque for their presence of mind during the robbery.
