His downtime turned out to be lethal.
A Quezon City policeman was shot dead on Wednesday night after he left the San Roque Cockpit Arena in Marikina City.
“According to a witness, PO1 Gilbert Ringor Peralta, 52, a member of the Criminal Investigation and Detection (CIDG) team based at Camp Karingal in Quezon City, was walking on Shoe Avenue Extension in Marikina City at around 6:30pm when a man came up to him and shot him three times,” reports Vanessa B. Hidalgo in Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The victim, who had just come from the San Roque Cockpit Arena, was brought to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Hospital. He was declared dead on arrival.
Witnesses described the gunman as “of medium build with fair complexion and dressed in a white shirt and shorts.”
The suspect fled from the scene by boarding a motorcycle driven by his cohort.
Police are now looking into the possibility that the murder of Peralta was connected to the cases he was handling.
