The idea of malls as voting centers appeals to  persons with disabilities (PWDs).

“The Commission on Elections (Comelec) plan to tap shopping malls as polling centers in 2016 yesterday drew support from PWDs,” reports Leslie Ann Aquino in Manila Bulletin.

On Fri, Jul 17, at the sidelines of the satellite voter registration for PWDs and senior citizens at SM Aura in Taguig City, Helario Supaz, PWD affairs officer of the Taguig City office, said, “Actually this is good for PWDs and senior citizens. It’s more accessible to us if you do it (voting) inside a mall.”

The report noted: “Supaz lamented that many voting precincts were not PWD–friendly during the May 2013 elections.” He added, “Hopefully, next year there will be accessible polling places for PWDs and senior citizens. We are happy with this news.”
